Forum, Game Server & Communications Guidelines

The following is provided to augment the Agreed Usage Policy and the Code of Conduct. Please read both documents carefully.

Any advertising for companies, products or other non-MaD Hatters gaming communities including “Clans”, or “Guilds” without Admin permission is prohibited.

Admins & Moderators: Attacks & Disrespect
Attacks or disrespect towards Administrators or Moderators will not be tolerated. The admins & moderators are all volunteers, they do not get paid, they give their time & effort freely & are chosen for their ability to be look at all things in a fair & just manner. Attacks against a moderator or admin may result in expulsion from MaD Hatters.

You will behave as you yourself would wish to be treated. You will not abuse, slander other members or non-members. MaD Hatters has a good reputation within the wider gaming community & this is to be upheld by all our members. We take this very seriously & breaches will be dealt with possible expulsion from MaD Hatters.

Constructive Posts
Alternative views often described as “Negative feedback” can be very useful, provided that it is presented in a civil, factual manner. Tell us what you don’t like and why and how you feel it could be improved. Posts that are insulting and rude may be locked/deleted, no matter how valid the ideas behind them may be.

Counterproductive or Disruptive Posts
As above, constructive criticism is welcomed, but any member deemed to be overly disruptive, abusive, or counter productive can be removed from a division or MaD Hatters as a whole on a case by case basis & at the discretion of MaD Hatters administration.

Cheats or Hacks
One simple rule. Do not use a cheat or hack. If you are caught you will immediately banned from MaD Hatters.

Locking and/or deleting of certain kinds of posts
The posting of pornography; discriminatory remarks which are sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive; excessive obscene or vulgar language; posts which discuss or illustrate illegal activity; providing links to sites that contain any of the aforementioned.

Members playing with other communities, clans, groups, corps, etc
MaD Hatters is a community where membership is generally provided to all forums and game Groups across all of MaD Hatters, however when a member chooses to commit to another clan or organisation for a game then it is reasonable to limit that members access to the corresponding MaD Hatters Group and Group services such as TeamSpeak.

This is a decision for MaD Hatters management.

For example: a member who decides to play for an opposing clan/group may have their access rights removed from any corresponding forums such as competitive forums.

Communications – Team Speak Voice Recording (inc. Streaming):
MaD Hatters requires that any person intending to or in the process of recording a verbal communication of which they are part must give clear notice to any other person who may be captured by the recording of such intention to record or actively recording.

Notice must include:
– the creation of a permanent or temporary dedicated channel with title indicating “Recording” or “Streaming” to warn others; and
– edit your TS name to include words “Recording” or “Streaming” to identify the party actually recording; and
– a post in the relevant Division forum detailing the nature and purpose of the recording.

A person must not intercept or record a voice communication to which they’re not a party.

Warning: Please be aware that any person in a Team Speak channel may at anytime be recording or streaming the conversation in violation of this policy. You talk at your own risk.

Personal attacks are prohibited
Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are posts which are designed to personally brate or insult another. Text of this nature is not beneficial to the community spirit.

Redundant postsĀ
As a courtesy to others before beginning a new thread, please look to see if an active thread on that topic has already been established. If so, place your comments there instead. Multiple threads on the same subject clutter up the forum needlessly and many good ideas may be lost. Keep discussions about one topic to one thread only. Moderators should provide link to other thread when locking.

Repetitive posts.
Posts with no point, subject matter.
No-one enjoys spam email & we don’t enjoy spam posts on the MaD Hatters forums. Please refrain from posting spam.

Communications including swearing, humour and or emblems:
‘There’s a time and place for everything’. We are all adults and MaD Hatters recognise people will from time to time swear or crack a funny. It is important to know your environment and audience. For example, when in TS consider the Division culture, nature of the game, the title of the TS Channel and who is currently participating. Additionally, know your Division rules and listen to other members including channel moderators. At the end of the day, as in real life, we need to be mindful and respectful of others.

Thread Hijacking
This is when a post is taken off topic by a person or group of other posters. This is disrespectful & rude to the person who made the original post. We understand that posts can go off on a tangent, but should be brought back on topic. Please keep this to a minimum.

Trolling is prohibited
Trolling is the word used to describe a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting the members of the forum community. Posts of this nature are disruptive and do not convey a friendly attitude.

Warnings, locked & deleted threads
If a moderator locks or deletes a thread, they will leave a brief message as to the reason. Do not create a new thread re-posting the information in a locked/deleted thread or about a locked/deleted thread. The poster has the right to send a Private Message the Mod or Admin in regards to the said thread being deleted or locked.

Such matters shall remain private between the Moderator and the user. Questions or comments concerning warnings, locked threads and possible bans will be conveyed through private messaging, please.
